The
Organizational Measurement Program has two main
purposes. The first is to provide
services to software projects at Goddard,
ranging from consulting services to providing
planning models that help allocate staff and plan
a schedule. The second purpose is to assess trends
in key software indicators, such as productivity
and quality, and determine whether investments in
new technologies and processes are having the
desired effect.
The
Measurement Team of the Software Process
Improvement Project conducts the Organizational
Measurement Program. The Team's main activities
are shown in the yellow box of the diagram below.
The green ovals represent interfaces between the
Team and its customers. The diagram shows how the
Measurement Team supports software projects in
their measurement activities and provides useful,
quantitative measures of organizational
performance and the effects of investments in
software process improvement over the long term.
