Building 23, Room C432 |
This discussion will examine why software measurement is a good idea and how measurement can be used to help plan, manage and control a software project. Measurement best practices are broken down to show activities that are carried out at project startup, activities that are carried out to monitor projects and get them under control if they deviate from plan, and activities at the end of a project that provide information and lessons to subsequent projects.
You might even discover you've been measuring all along without knowing it. Hmmmmm.

This introduction will cover:
1. Why software organizations measure
2. What the ISD measurement program intends to accomplish
3. How the ISD measurement program is organized, and
4. How ISD data is collected, stored, analyzed and used
